Latest updates for the Sydney IGLFA 2023 Tournament

G’day and welcome to our final update of 2022. Can you believe it’s only two months until our tournament kicks off here in Sydney?! Whatever you’re planning over the end of year break, we hope you have a fabulous time, stay safe, and enter 2023 refreshed and ready for a fantastic Sydney World Pride 2023.

Got any questions? We’re here to help. Drop us an email or join our Facebook community if you need anything at all.

We know it’s a big trip for most of you and we want to make it the best experience possible. A bit more about the tournament  We’ve had a few questions about how the tournament which we've bunched into themes here: Team registrations close on 31 December 2022, but player registrations will be open until closer to the tournament to enable you to fill your squads. This is to help us schedule the tournament and allocate referees. Registration information is here

In both the men’s and non-binary, and women’s and non-binary tournaments we will have two divisions, and you’ll play each team in your division once. We’ll then progress to knock-outs, meaning each team will play at least six games against similar-ability teams over the four days of the tournament. We’ll be reaching out to team captains over the coming weeks to double-check which league you want to be placed in.

We’re then hoping to be able to provide the schedule to all teams and referees in mid-January so you can better plan your trip, as well as getting to and from Tempe, our tournament location. Group games will be 60 minutes (2 x 30 minute halves). Finals are 90 minutes (2 x 45 minute halves.

And just a reminder, we will have an official welcome party on Monday 20 February, Upstairs at The Beresford Hotel in Surry Hills. Invites will be sent in our first email in January. Save the date!!

Rules help control the fun We all want to have the most fun, action-packed week of football, and we also want it to be carried out in the best of spirits. We’ll have referee coverage for every game, but above that we also have codes of conduct and policies to protect our players, spectators and organisers.  View our Terms & Conditions here. View IGLFA’s 11 vs 11 rules here. View our Sport Inclusion & Access Policy here.
